The early part of this year was spent completing the first at home trial of our PD Track Parkinson’s symptom tracker . This first field test of the system enabled us to see how the system functions outside of a lab environment, and we learnt a lot about how our system may bring benefit to people living with Parkinson’s Disease. We remain grateful to the 50+ volunteers who were willing to try the system for themselves for two weeks and their feedback has proved critical in defining our path moving forward.

From February 2022 recruitment was in full force to build and bolster our team and bring in new talented individuals. So far this year we have had the pleasure of welcoming our Research and Development Engineer, Karl Tiemann, Machine Learning Engineers, Koravich Sangkaew and Panagiotis Papageorgiou, Lead Engineer, Dr Marcus Gardner and our User Experience Designer, Gina Wang. We are excited about our growing team and the milestones we will achieve in the coming year.

In March 2022 SERG Technologies Ltd received an Innovate UK Smart Grants Award . The award allows UK registered companies to receive a share £25 million for game-changing and commercially viable research and development innovation that can significantly impact the UK economy. We are using award to develop the second-generation PD Track system, a wearable device which will provide a constant score for Parkinson’s Disease symptom severity over the course of a day. This information will be critical for evaluating efficacy of medicines used to treat Parkinson’s symptoms.

In May 2022, Dr Christos Kapatos (CEO) visited Malmo, Sweden, the HQ of Sony Startup Accelerator Program . The program marked three intensive days, full of workshops, inspiring guests speakers, and meetings with Team Sony culminating in the Nordic Demo Day.

In July 2022 we made public our round closure of £1.6 million and would like to thank our wonderful team and our supporters whose invaluable contributions made it successful. We know that the telehealth tools we are developing to help people living with Parkinson’s will be useful in managing the condition, and it is a real privilege to be working with those who share our goals and our vision.

Our hybrid working system has been very beneficial for our team, supporting them in creating a positive work life balance. Our team is making great strides and we will continue to share our progress with you along the way.
